In Norwegian folklore and legends, Huldra is a supernatural, invisible, and seductive female being that can suddenly appear and then disappear. Also, in the superstition lore of the Icelandic people, this being occupies a special place.

According to popular belief, this being protect the cattle on the mountainsides and the forest's animals and plants. In ancient beliefs, those who exploited forest too much could make Huldra angry. She is the "owner of the forest" or "hill lady," a powerful ruler over the forest realm and its riches. She is a young woman with superhuman strength, sometimes naked or dressed like a peasant girl.
