Ancient Dragons And Dragon Kings In Myths And Legends
A. Sutherland - AncientPages.com - We encounter dragons in almost every ancient world culture. Dragons played a vital role in our ancestors' beliefs and appeared in various forms. Artistic depictions of dragons varied significantly across regions and eras—some showed them as serpentine beings with immense power and wisdom. In contrast, others portrayed them as monstrous beasts breathing fire and spreading fear.
Throughout history, dragons have been surrounded by superstition, with people attributing natural phenomena such as storms, volcanic eruptions, and droughts to these mythical creatures. Interestingly, even after centuries, many superstitions about dragons persist today.
Dragons are often categorized into Eastern and Western groups, regarded as either benevolent or fearsome and evil creatures.
