A. Sutherland  - AncientPages.com - The wise Proteus knew the future lived in the South Seas, but he was a loner and, of his own free will, did not help anyone. Whoever wanted to get away from him, the council had to capture him first and incapacitate him.

Each day at noon, Proteus emerged from the depths of the sea to rest in one of the coastal grottoes. Many thought that during this time, he could have been captured. However, capturing such a cunning wizard required enormous strength and courage, prompting reflection on the challenges posed by his elusive nature.

And his nature was indeed elusive because he was a shapeshifter and could appear as a tiger, a lion, or a dragon. All the time, it was necessary to hold him tightly, still tightening the ties. Finally, the exhausted wizard succumbed at last, and then he gave his predictions.
